Teacup Tales

Hello Tea Friends, Hope your summer days are bringing you happiness and health. I'm trying to take advantage of the cooler mornings and early afternoons with tea time in the garden. Nothing is more relaxing than reading a good book with a glass of iced tea in the afternoon or a cup of tea in the morning. Come join me for a simple tea in the garden. I was planning on making a peach crisp to go with my peach teacup but life got in the way. I do plan on making the crisp and will share the recipe with all of you soon. Today's featured teacup is a demitasse one by Royal Crown Derby. There is something so sweet about a demitasse teacup. I adore designs in the inner cup! Embossed gold "bands" on the edge Demitasse teacups pack a lot of pattern and design into a small area. Circa 1921-1940 Realistically it was a tad too hot for tea so I made some Constant Comment by Bigelow iced tea and was happily surprised by the subtle orange taste. ...

Welcome to October! Finally there have been hints of fall in the air with cooler mornings, two quick rain showers and earlier sunsets. Still we are having eighty degree temperatures forecasted for this week. This weekend I took the Halloween tubs out of the shed. This year I'm going for more of a fall theme in terms of decorations vs. a Halloween one. I put many items back in the tubs. The nice thing is the fall decorations can be left out for Thanksgiving as well. I absolutely love the colors of fall! My own wardrobe has many orange and brown items in it. There is something soothing about peach and tan hues. On Saturday I set up a simple tea time under the pergola in the backyard; hence this will be a simple post. Welcome to my gold teacup party! Today we will drinking one of my favorite flavored black teas-Paris by Harney and Sons. To make sure we don't lose track of time, my antique carriage clock will keep us on schedule. Don't you just love getting lost in a good book while drinking tea? While looking in my curio chest I was surprised I have four gold teacups in my collection. All were given to me by my great aunt Johanna. Above is an Anysley and a Royal Doulton. This beautiful Royal Crown Derby is one of the featured cups of this week's teacup party. This pattern's name is "Gold Aves." Aves is the scientific classification name for birds. (Who knew I would learn so many new things while blogging?) Anyway this pattern is still being produced today.
